Voting Entities

Understand the different roles and entities in a Pepvote voting event.

Pepvote uses a few core entities to organize every voting event. Many of these labels can be renamed with aliases.

🥇 Position

🥇 Position is a title in which a group of Candidates are competing for.

Some similar words used to describe a Position based on the nature of the voting are:

  • Office
  • Award
  • Seat
  • etc

🙋 Candidate

🙋 Candidate is a person contesting, competing or aspiring for a Position.

Some similar words used to describe a Candidate based on the nature of the voting are:

  • Aspirant
  • Contestant
  • Nominee
  • etc

👥 Group

👥 Group is a way to organize positions, candidates, or voters when Group Mode is enabled.

Some similar words used to describe a Group based on the nature of the voting are:

  • Faculty
  • Department
  • Unit

🤝 Sponsor

🤝 Sponsors are available for poll voting events. Use sponsors when a public poll or award has supporting brands, partners, or organizations that should appear around the voting experience.

🗳️ Voter

🗳️ Voter of course is the one who votes for one or more Candidates of choice aspiring for a Position.

Some similar words used to describe a Voter based on the nature of the voting are:

  • Student
  • Employee
  • Staff
  • etc

👑 Owner

👑 The Owner is the creator of the voting event or a user with the owner invite role. Owners have full management access and can delete the voting event.

👨 Voting Event Manager

👨 A Voting Event Manager is a trusted operations role. Managers can manage setup, invites, results, and vote-related views, but they cannot delete the voting event unless they are also an owner.

The Voting Event Manager can be the head of the voting event committee or another trusted administrator.

Pepvote has provided several features to make all aspects of the entire voting event process easier to manage, monitor and maintain.

Note: Polling Officers have less access than Voting Event Managers.

👨‍💻 Polling Officer

👨‍💻 The Polling Officer supports the Voting Event Manager by helping manage voting event components such as positions, groups, candidates, and voters.

  • For Example, in a Student Union Government (SUG) Voting Event, Polling Officers can be head of Faculties or Departments who will make sure that the Data of Voters from their Faculty or Department are correctly uploaded.

Polling Officers do not manage team invite permissions.

👀 Observer

👀 An Observer is a read-only focused role for monitoring voting event progress and results.

  • In a National Voting Event, Observers can range from Journalists to Agents.
  • In an Award Show or Nominations, Observers may be Judges.

Note: Observers can monitor a voting event, but they cannot change the ballot setup.
