Election roles overview
Understand each role in PepVote and how they help run elections.
PepVote supports these election roles:
- Owner
- Election Manager
- Polling Officer
- Observer
- Candidate
- Voter
Owner
The account that created the election.
Typical capabilities:
- Full management access
- Can delete election
- Can manage settings, components, and invites
Election Manager
Trusted operations role.
Typical capabilities:
- Manage election setup and components
- Manage election invites
- Access results and vote-related views
- Cannot delete election
Polling Officer
Operational support role.
Typical capabilities:
- Manage election components (positions, parties, candidates, voters)
- Does not manage invite permissions for election team roles
Observer
Read-focused monitoring role.
Typical capabilities:
- Track election progress and result views
- No setup/edit access
Candidate and Voter
Participant roles.
Typical capabilities:
- Candidate: can participate and view relevant election information
- Voter: can cast votes (if approved and not already voted), and confirm votes
