Pepvote Changelog

Changelog

What we have shipped, in the order it shipped. New ways to vote, sharper results, and the small fixes that make an election day quieter.

New

See results by party, house, or clubLink to this update

Report a position by candidate group instead of one candidate at a time.

If your candidates run under a party or a house, you can now show the result that way.

Turn on the switch in Result Settings and each position shows one row per group with the group's combined tally, its members listed underneath, and each member's share beside their name. It carries through to the public result page and the PDF.

See it on the student election demo, where candidates are grouped by faculty.

This only changes how the result is presented. The count, the records, and your exports stay exactly as they were.

Improved

Find the answer fasterLink to this update

Support center search now gives you a short list you can scan.

Type two letters and the support center gives you a handful of results instead of half the site.

It understands word endings, so searching "vote" also finds voting and voters, and it puts pages from the section you are already reading at the top.

New

Run your event from your own systemLink to this update

The Pepvote API lets you handle a whole ballot without opening the dashboard.

If your members already live in your own portal, app, or intranet, you can run the election there.

Create the event, add candidates and voters, open and close voting, collect votes, take payments, and pull results, all through the API. Create a key from your profile and give it only the access it needs: read, write, or vote. A request that gets sent twice will not charge twice or count a vote twice, and you can look back over the last 30 days of requests whenever you need to check what happened.

The API overview walks you through the first call, with a page for every operation, copyable samples, and a playground that sends real requests while you read.

New

Rehearse your event before it countsLink to this update

Run the whole thing end to end without charging anyone or emailing your members.

Big election coming and only one chance to get it right? Switch on test mode and practise on the real thing.

Nothing is charged. Test data is labelled wherever it appears. PDFs come out watermarked. The "voting has started" announcement stays put and rehearsal invites are slowed down, so nobody is emailed by accident.

When you are happy, one click clears the rehearsal and your event starts clean. Every dialog tells you exactly what it will do before you confirm.

New

Put a motion to your membersLink to this update

Ask a yes or no question instead of running a contest.

Amending a constitution, approving accounts, or ratifying an appointment? Use a referendum.

Your members get For, Against, and Abstain if you want it, always in the same order so everyone sees the same ballot. The result shows the split twice, against every response and against valid responses only, on screen and in the PDF.

We give you the numbers. You declare the outcome under your own rules. Referendums sit alongside the other voting methods you can set per position.

Improved

Move around your event fasterLink to this update

One sidebar for everything, with an event switcher at the top.

Everything in a voting event now sits in one sidebar you can take in at a glance.

Switch between events from the top without going back to a list, and watch for the dot that appears when registrations are waiting on your review. Getting started and Demos have pages of their own, and templates open from the sidebar wherever you are.

NewImproved

Sharper results and easier paymentsLink to this update

Ranked results read more clearly, and the payments table does more.

  • Follow a ranked count round by round. Results open with a grid covering every round, then a table showing where each transferred vote went, exhausted ballots included. The PDF matches what you see.
  • Get more out of the payments table. Copy a row, export exactly the rows your filters show, and see your share on every line.
  • Price quadratic credits on their own tab, with models to choose from and per-position prices edited in place.
  • Thank sponsors on an election, not just a poll.
  • See what a higher plan unlocks. Anything your plan does not cover now shows you the way in rather than disappearing.
  • Check that we are up from inside the app, linked to status.pepvote.com.
New

Keep voting to the roomLink to this update

Members have to be at the venue before the ballot opens.

For a congress floor, a campus hall, or an AGM where voting happens in person, set up a voting center with a location and a radius. Members outside it cannot open the ballot.

Every vote records which center it came from, and Insights breaks the totals down center by center, so you can see how each venue turned out. Comes with the For Organizations plan.

NewImproved

Start from a template, then shape the resultLink to this update

Guided setup for common events, and more say over how results look.

Pick the kind of event you are running and a short guided form sets up the positions and settings that usually go with it. No blank page.

Results are yours to shape too. Choose how many candidates to show and both the page and the PDF respect it. PDFs are tighter to read, combined and single results look the same, and a new figure shows how much of the ballot your members actually completed. Merging results no longer insists every event in the combination is the same type.

New

Connect Pepvote to your own systemsLink to this update

Webhooks tell your tools the moment something happens.

Point Pepvote at a URL and we will let your system know when a voter registers, a candidate is approved, voting opens, a payment clears, results are published, and around fifty other moments.

Good for a Slack channel that announces registrations, a CRM that needs to stay in step, or a dashboard of your own. Every message is signed so you can trust it came from us, sent again if your server is down, and logged so you can see what went out. Set it for your whole account or for a single event, on any plan.

The webhooks guide gets you started.

Improved

Results you can read at a glanceLink to this update

Each position leads with its top three, with the full table a tap away.

A result page full of long tables is hard to announce from. Each position now opens with its leading three candidates, a chart, and coloured bars, and the full table is one tap away.

The headline numbers sit above the position list, you can export a branded PDF for your records, and a ranked contest can be read round by round. Payment figures stay off the public page.

Fixed

Sign-up and password reset no longer stallLink to this update

The form waits for the security check instead of doing nothing.

Signing up, resetting a password, or sending a Talk to Sales message could quietly do nothing if the security check had not finished yet.

The check now shows itself and the form waits for it, so you always know where you stand.

New

Count ranked ballots the way your rules sayLink to this update

Pick instant-runoff, single transferable vote, or Borda per position.

Constitutions do not agree on how to count a ranked ballot, so you now choose per position. Instant-runoff for a single seat. Single transferable vote when you are filling several, with your seat count and quota. Borda with your own point schema.

When a result is questioned you can show your working. Every round is there: which votes moved and where they went, the quota, how much of the vote is still live, how much is exhausted, and any tie still to be broken. The rule you chose is named on every label and travels with your imports and exports.

New to the terms? The glossary explains them in plain language. You can set a ranked position from the voting methods on any ballot.

Improved

You declare the winner, we publish the countLink to this update

Results show the numbers and leave the declaration to you.

Your returning officer declares the result, not your software.

Results now show the counts and the shares and nothing more. No winner badge, no candidate marked as elected. Counting honestly is our job. Declaring the outcome under your own constitution is yours.

New

See everything the moment you sign inLink to this update

Recent events and how voting is going, on one screen.

Signing in now opens on your recent voting events and a chart of voting across the last 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days, with voter counts and your busiest day and hour.

Registrations also carry a proper status: pending, approved, and not approved. Filter by it, and watch for the banner that tells you somebody is waiting on your review.

New

See when and where your members votedLink to this update

Charts by hour or day, and a map by country and region.

Voting Insights charts votes over time by day or by hour, so you can see the surge after an announcement and the quiet before a deadline.

The map shows votes and voters by country and region. Click a country to open its regions and click back out again. Filter your vote log by country, and watch the whole thing move while voting is live. Comes with Starter and above.

New

Let members rank their choicesLink to this update

Drag and drop candidates into order of preference.

On a ranked position your members put candidates in order of preference instead of picking just one.

The ballot is drag and drop, with a preview and a confirmation step before anything is cast, and ranking rules you set per position. Ranked votes show up in your exports and vote log like any other vote.

Try it on the demo without signing up, or see how it sits beside the other voting methods.

NewImproved

More control over payments and your dataLink to this update

A payments view, analytics you decide on, and an export of everything.

  • See every payment on an event, filtered by status and purpose and searchable by reference. Who voted stays hidden.
  • Your cookie choice now decides everything. Analytics follow it, you get a setting on your account, and ballots are never recorded.
  • Take your data with you. Export your whole account as a ZIP, or ask us to delete it.
  • Close candidate and voter registration at different times, with clear messages on the public pages either way.
  • Spot an unusual connection. A public vote carries a note when the browser and the country do not line up. It never stops anyone voting.
New

Pay in nairaLink to this update

Plan upgrades and voter-limit increases go through Paystack.

Plan upgrades and voter-limit increases can be paid with Paystack, priced in your local currency.

Messages across the app also read more clearly and work properly with screen readers, and a member who loses eligibility part way through voting is told why instead of hitting a dead end.

New

Vote without leaving TelegramLink to this update

Members find the event and cast a vote inside the chat.

If your members organise on Telegram, they can look up an event and vote right there without opening a browser.

Votes cast this way are marked as coming from Telegram in your logs, and anyone on an older client is handed to the browser instead.

New

Four more ways to run a voteLink to this update

Approval, score, cumulative, and quadratic join the ballot.

Not every decision is one person, one pick. Four more voting methods are now available per position.

Approval lets a member back everyone they find acceptable. Score rates each candidate on a scale. Cumulative hands out a pool of votes to spread as they like. Quadratic gives each member a credit budget where piling votes on one candidate costs progressively more, with paid top-ups if you want them.

Each position carries its own selection rules, and your totals and result statistics follow the method you chose. The glossary explains what each one suits.

Improved

All your event settings in one placeLink to this update

Ballot, voters, votes, timeline, plan, and pricing together.

Settings that were scattered across the event now sit in one workspace, covering the ballot, voters, votes, your timeline, your plan, and pricing.

You can also change the email address on your account, with a confirmation step and a note to the old address.

New

Collect payments the way your country paysLink to this update

Link Stripe or Paystack, and price in a currency that works.

Pay to vote and pay to register are no longer card-only through one provider.

Link a Stripe or a Paystack business and we offer what your country supports, price in a currency that works there, and show you a payout preview before you commit.

Embedding a ballot in your own site is simpler too: paste one snippet instead of managing a link.
