Casting votes
How voters open a ballot, verify access, submit votes, and receive confirmation.
Before voters cast votes
Voters use the public cast-votes link for elections and polls. Depending on the voting event setup, Pepvote may ask for a voting event code, voter email, Voter ID, voter key, name, or email before showing the ballot.
Casting votes in an election
For an election, voters usually complete these steps:
- Open the public cast-votes link.
- Enter the voting event code and voter email, or Voter ID when required.
- Receive a voter key by email.
- Enter the voter key to open the ballot.
- Select candidates for each eligible position.
- Submit the ballot.
- Save the confirmation code shown after submission.
Casting votes in a poll
Poll voters use the public cast-votes link and do not need a voter key.
If Save Voter Info During Voting is enabled, Pepvote asks for the voter's name and optional email before the ballot. If Require Voter ID to Vote is enabled, Pepvote asks for the Voter ID before the ballot.
Rules that affect voting
- The Voting Event must have started.
- The Voting Event must not have ended.
- The voter must be approved.
- Each voter can vote only once.
- If full-votes setting is enabled, the voter must vote across all eligible positions.
- If Voter ID is required, the voter must provide it before continuing.
Ballot behavior
- Approved candidates only are shown for voting.
- Choice limits per position are enforced.
- Candidate options can be shuffled when enabled.
- Step-by-step ballots can show one position at a time.
After votes are submitted
After submitting votes, the voter receives a confirmation code. The confirmation code can be used to verify the submitted vote record from the confirm-votes page.
